Selling in Ontario Real Estate

There’s plenty to think about when selling your home. When you’re ready to make a move, having a real estate expert to guide you can make the whole process a pleasant and profitable one. Here are 6 steps for homeowners looking to sell their home:

1. Get organized.

Walkthrough your property and assess what may need to be addressed when the property goes up for sale. Be sure everything is in order before taking your next steps.

2. Find an Expert.

Get in contact with a knowledgeable real estate agent that has your best interest in mind. They will be your go-to for every step along the way and will help ensure the success of the sale.

3. Talk Prices.

Together with your agent, discuss how much you’re looking to get from your home. What do you love most about current home? What’s your minimum acceptable offer from a potential buyer? Your agent will help you decide on the best asking price to proceed with.

4. Repair and Declutter.

If parts of the home could use some upgrades, have renovations made and then declutter the property to make the home more appealing to buyers. Repairs can be minor or major and decluttering will help potential buyers imagine the home as they would decorate it.

5. Manage Offers.

Buyers will send offers with asking prices and you can accept them, counter-offer or reject them. Your agent will play a key role in these negotiations and once you all agree on a price, the selling process is almost complete.

6. Closing Time.

Your realtor will run a final check on the home, ensuring everything is as agreed upon and once it checks out, it’s just a matter of signing papers to make it official and handing over the keys to the new owners.
